Automatic refractometers automatically measure the refractive index of a sample. The automatic measurement of the refractive index of the sample is based on the determination of the critical angle of total reflection. A light source, usually a long-life LED, is focused onto a prism surface via a lens system. An interference filter guarantees the specified wavelength.

A-scan is an amplitude modulation scan. It gives the information in the form of one dimensional. it is used to detect the presence of flaws in the materials.A-scan ultrasound biometry, commonly referred to as an A-scan, is routine type of diagnostic test used in ophthalmology. The A-scan provides data on the length of the eye, which is a major determinant in common sight disorders.

B-scan ultrasonography, or B-scan, is a diagnostic test used in optometry and ophthalmology to produce a two-dimensional, cross-sectional view of the eye and the orbit. It is otherwise called brightness scan. A B-scan is helpful in diagnosing retinal detachment.

The human eye is unique as a fingerprint and requires a custom corrective solution. For this reason, we need fast, versatile and accurate methodologies for eye examination according to each individual customer’s unique vision correction needs. HUVITZ HRK-7000 / HRK-7000A based on WAVEFRONT technology has opened up new possibilities for diagnosis of ocular error.

Non-contact tonometry (or air-puff tonometry) is different from pneumatonometry and was invented by Bernard Grolman of Reichert, Inc (formerly American Optical). It uses a rapid air pulse to applanate (flatten) the cornea. Corneal applanation is detected via an electro-optical system. Intraocular pressure is estimated by detecting the force of the air jet at the instance of applanation.Historically, non-contact tonometers were not considered to be an accurate way to measure IOP but instead a fast and simple way to screen for high IOP. However, modern non-contact tonometers have been shown to correlate well with Goldmann tonometry measurements and are particularly useful for measuring IOP in children and other non-compliant patient groups.

An “Octopus” is measuring patients visual field in the office of an Allentown ophthalmologist.

“Octopus 2000″ is the name of the computerized testing equipment used primarily on patients with glaucoma or other optic nerve damage to record impairment in a 360-degree field of vision.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an optical signal acquisition and processing method. It captures micrometer-resolution, three-dimensional images from within optical scattering media (e.g., biological tissue). Optical coherence tomography is an interferometric technique, typically employing near-infrared light. The use of relatively long wavelength light allows it to penetrate into the scattering medium. Confocal microscopy , another similar technique, typically penetrates less deeply into the sample.Depending on the properties of the light source (superluminescent diodes ultrashort pulsed lasers supercontinuum lasers have been employed), optical coherence tomography has achieved sub-micrometer resolution (with very wide-spectrum sources emitting over a ~100 nm wavelength range)

Corneal topography, also known as photokeratoscopy or videokeratography, is a non-invasive medical imaging technique for mapping the surface curvature of the cornea, the outer structure of the eye. The three-dimensional map is therefore a valuable aid to plan refractive surgery such as LASIK, and evaluating its results; or in assessing the fit of contact lenses.

Center is equipped with a Highly advanced Operation theatre that is facilitated with highly advanced gadgets.

The Surgical Day Care Unit is an area where of all surgical admissions to hospital takes place. Day Care surgeries are for patients who require a surgical procedure without an overnight admission to the hospital. There are many advantages to a Day Care admission:

  • Less time spent in the hospital
  • Less time lost at work
  • The ability to return to a familiar setting for your recovery

* Some Day Care surgeries may require patients to stay overnight and will be detailed.

Sample collection & testing facilities are available. Collected samples are tested at National accredited labs.

Laser peripheral iridotomy is a treatment for narrow angle glaucoma. The doctor uses an Nd:YAG laser to create a small hole in the peripheral iris. This improves the circulation of fluid inside the eye and widens the anterior chamber angle. Fluid which is produced behind the iris has easier access to the eye’s internal drainage system. Sometimes this lowers the intraocular pressure, but that is not the primary goal of laser peripheral iridotomy. The primary goal of the procedure is to lessens the risk of acute angle-closure glaucoma.

Laser treatment involves using an intense beam of light (laser) that can be precisely focused to treat certain diseases of the retina. The retina is a delicate lining in the back of the eye where the images you see are made. Laser treatment is done to make sure your current level of vision lasts and to prevent any further loss of vision.
